On October 26, 1952, Norman "Wildman" Willey and the Philadelphia Eagles traveled up north, to the Polo Grounds, where the New York Giants would play host in a Week 5 matchup. That day, Norm Willey set the unofficial record for most sacks in an NFL game, when he sacked Giants passers 17 times in one game.

Willey swears it happened and there is evidence to back it up. But the NFL doesn't recognize it. NFL record books didn't start recording sacks until 1982 - 30 years after Wildman's historic day - and they list Derrick Thomas' 7 sacks in a 1990 game as the most in league history.
