Eagles Repeat? 2025 Eagles Predictions

From 1951 until 2017, at the start of each season, the Eagles were chasing something.
After back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949, the Eagles went until February of 2018 before they could call themselves Champs again. Those 50 plus years in between all ended in disappointment.
Since that fateful day in 2018, we've now had two Super Bowl Parades down Broad Street. And this Thursday, our boys in green will once again begin their championship defense. So, where are your expectations?
Are we expecting a repeat? Will we be disappointed with anything short of it? Or will we be a little more reasonable? It's very hard to win even ONE Super Bowl, nonetheless two in a row. Maybe we give the guys a break this year? Good work last year, fellas, we won't be upset if you take a couple games off this year. Right?
Wrong. I don't know about you, but I'm expecting a repeat. Even if you're going to sit here right now and tell me you aren't, you're still going to be screaming at the TV tonight when Sydney Brown misses a tackle. You're still going to have butterflies in your stomach at kickoff. You're still going to plan your whole night around watching every single snap tonight. That's the way we're wired.
After all, the Chiefs just did it! Sure, the Eagles spoiled their three-peat but they had won two in a row before that. In fact, there's been nine (9) instances where a team has repeated as Super Bowl Champions. It's not easy, but there's plenty of precedent. And with the team the Eagles have? It's certainly not impossible. Let's compare last year to this year:

The offense is essentially the same, with the only difference being Tyler Steen (who started two games for the Eagles last year) has replaced Mekhi Becton - who departed in free agency - at RG. On defense, the changes comes from Milton Williams, Oren Burks, and Josh Sweat leaving in free agency, as well as the CJ Gardner-Johnson trade to the Texans. Moro Ojomo and Jalyx Hunt will have much larger roles in this defense than they did a year ago, while first round pick Jihaad Campbell will take over at the middle linebacker position. Free agency addition Adoree Jackson will take Darius Slay's place at corner and Sydney Brown will now start at safety.
That's pretty impressive to have that little turnover from your Super Bowl winning team. It confuses me as to why people are doubting this team. They have the third best odds to win the Super Bowl, behind the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens. Why? The Bills and Ravens over the past few years have shown they don't have what it takes to even get past the Chiefs. The Eagles made the Chiefs look like a Pop Warner team in February, but somehow the Ravens and Bills are magically better? Who comes up with this stuff?
NFL.com had 29 analysts select who they believe will win the Super Bowl. Here's the results:
Ravens (16 votes)
Bills (5)
Chiefs (3)
Eagles, Bengals, Broncos, Packers, Rams (1 each)
How do you figure that? The Ravens are the clear favorite according to these guys, but the Eagles went into Baltimore and dominated a season ago. Lamar Jackson has never shown he has the ability to win big playoff games (whether you want to say it's his fault or not, it's a fact). Josh Allen has been the far better quarterback in the playoffs, as he's beaten Lamar both times they've played and has gone shot for shot with Patrick Mahomes. But he still hasn't beat the Chiefs.
We can look on these on paper all we want - and if we do that, the Eagles should still be Super Bowl favorites - but what matters is what actually happens on the gridiron. You can live in a fantasy world where you don't believe Jalen Hurts is an elite playoff performer and that the Eagles don't have the most stacked roster in the NFL. You can have the Ravens somehow change their fortunes, although they've shown no propensity to do so. You can believe the Chiefs are still a threat, even though the Eagles completely exposed them in New Orleans. I'll choose to live in the real world - where the Philadelphia Eagles are the defending champs and have shown no evidence why they won't do it again.
My official prediction for the Eagles this season is 14-3. Sure, their schedule is tough, but they're tougher. Because they play in Philadelphia, people will refuse to admit how good they are. Despite a dominant Super Bowl win, I still see people acting like the Eagles and Jalen Hurts aren't the real deal. And, really, it's just jealousy. I get it. Over the past eight years, the only franchises to win a Super Bowl have been the Chiefs (3), Eagles (2), Patriots (1), Buccaneers (1), and Rams (1). If you're not a fan of those teams, you're terribly jealous of them. It's understandable, but you shouldn't let it cloud your judgement. It's really not a great look.
You can look at games on the Eagles schedule, like @ KC, vs LAR, vs DEN, @ GB, etc., and think, "Man, at Green Bay? That's a tough game." But, in reality, Packers fans should be thinking, "Man, Philly's coming here. Let's hope we at least keep it competitive..."
The Eagles are going to be very good, again. A repeat isn't out of the question. I don't want to guarantee it because who knows what will happen. But it's a real possibility, no doubt.
